DIGITAL RESTORATION

NOW SHOWING AT HUNTSMAN SQUARE MALL - SPRINGFIELD VIRGINIA.
THIS PAST WEEK A FRIEND REFERRED HIS CLIENT TO.  I WAS TRULY BLESSED WHEN I MET THE DAUGHTER OF THESE  COUPLE, ORIGINALLY IN CHARCOAL OVER 85 YEARS AGO.  IT WAS A CHALLENGE TO SCAN THIS OVAL PIECE, BECAUSE THE CENTER HAD BECOME WARPED WITHIN THE FRAMED GLASS HOLDING NOT PROTECTION BACKING.  I REALIZED THIS WAS GOING TO BE A BETTER IMAGE IF I TRIED MY CAMERA. ONCE I TRANSFER THE IMAGE TO MY SOFTWARE I REALIZED HOW MUCH MORE PURER THE IMAGE WAS.  NOTICED A UNIQUE CRISP AND DELICACY OF THIS UNIQUE CHARCOAL ON BOARD.  BOARD WHEN EXPOSED TO HUMIDITY WARPS AND TAKES THE SHAPE OF ITS HOLDING WALLS.  THE PRINTED PIECE WILL BE READY IN A COUPLE OF DAYS, AND WILL ALSO ADD A VERY SPECIAL BRASS GOLD PLATE WITH THE NAMES AND DATES OF BOTH PAINTED INDIVIDUALS.

Brush Strokes Fine Art - Springfield Mall

THIRTEEN YEARS AGO

Thirteen years ago in Springfield Mall. VA.  October should be the opening day for our new most improved Springfield Town Center. Sad will not be able to show my works there,  Kiosks are to small for the displays used for art.  But it was great going back in time and look at the setting up the Mall used to provide residents in the area.  I looks fantastic, the shell is closed, and now they are working hard to get the inside of each store ready!

Animals are such great companions, no matter what type or how big they are, they are always there for us. Our Cockapoo's best friend is now almost ready to go home with their owner. I hope Zaqui does not get gelous when his portrait goes up on the wall.

Anabela and Graduated Student

From L.H.Fairfax Virginia

Anabela!  I had the greatest time over this past month when I took lessons from you!  You are a real rock star!  To watch you work was at least as good as jamming with Bruce Springsteen would have been!  You gave me so much to work with, and you have inspired me to try to make some art of my very own . . . not Anabela art (although that is the best!!) but Linda art!  I know it takes time to learn all that you know, but you have learned it well and apply it well and continue to learn every day!  If even one inch of you rubbed off on me, I'll be able to do a very passable oil painting.  Thanks, Anabela!

MODERN TURKEY & ANABELA FERGUSON

Modern Art for the Heart
Gaithersburg, MD

Anabela cleaned a modern acrylic portrait that depicts a famous Turkish poet (late) Orhan Veli Kanik (seehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orhan_Veli_Kan%C4%B1k). The significance of the painting is that my husband inherited it from his grandfather who was a famous contemporary composer mostly known for his orchestral pieces Necil Kazim Akses (See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Necil_Kaz%C4%B1m_Akses). The portrait is incredibly unique in two ways: one is that the painter/artist Fahir Aksoy who is known as a leader in naive movement in modern Turkey
(See http://www.turkishpaintings.com/index.php?p=37&l=2&modPainters_artistDetailID=1141) and the portrait symbolizes cubic modernism, an enormous deviation from the typical works of this important naive artist, and second although it depicts an abstract portrait, the resemblance to Orhan Veli Kanik is very striking. This jewel was heavily soiled before it found life again in Anabela's magic hands. Anabela knows exactly what needed to be done to revive this priceless masterpiece. When I asked Anabela what she could do to restore the painting, she knew exactly what to do. (I wanted to make a surprise for my husband by the way, since I know he wants to cherish the memory of his grandfather by displaying art pieces or artifacts that belonged to him). Anabela immediately suggested that after cleaning, the piece needed to be encased in a museum quality glass frame with a double-layer linen matting for a floating effect. She gave the lighter colors deep cleaning, and the darker colors sift cleaning. She told me that the pigment of black and reds are staining colors and could bleed if done with deep cleaning. I was fine with that. When she brought the finished product, it looked STUNNING! Anabela is a true artist! When my husband came home from work that very day, he could not believe his eyes! He hanged the picture on top of the fireplace located in our sunroom with high ceilings. He cannot take his eyes off of the painting. He cherishes this jewel every day! Thank you Anabela!

Brush Strokes Fine Art Conservation & Custom Framing

www.facebook.com/anabela.ferguson

From the Orient to the States. Removed the wood backing that has a high pulp and acid content. Removed a sponge that was put under this beautiful peace to give it a 3d dimension. The sponge only added more acid and the edges of the precut paper was adding even more brown spots (known as foxing) and because there was no glass to protect this hand made art piece. We perserved the frame that came in but added 65% museum glass by truvue. It looks like it did not have a glass at all.

Long road and loving Google Analytics

Search Engines and Technology

Studying and learning new ways to get more traffic in an artist's website can be a difficult task.  With patience and persistence you can accomplish a complete strategy for traffic and sales. Google Analytics and certain groups in Linkedin and Google+ have provided me with much insight and structure about my website.  While learning the different areas and tasks that can be developed  as an artist, the technical world is not as easy and takes much energy and time to polish.
As I took sometime to learn the different ways to see my traffic through Google Analytics, I found that other countries are also taking an interest in my website http://www.Anabela-Artist.com. Including Ukraine, United Kingdom, Spain, Chile, Russia and from the West Coast to the East Coast of the United States of America.  To my surprise those looking at different pages in my website that were from other countries seemed to stay for a length of over 2 minutes, and 0 bounce rates.  Then I looked at people that were looking for art and even though the bounce rate in my site from North America was 9.7%, I believe it was a great number.  My traffic is still slow in comparison with my domain web hosting analytic programs.  Furthermore, within the US I looked at what type of service providers looking at my pages, and Cox Communications, Verizon, and Comcast were the top companies and then was glad that people were looking mostly in their desktops over tablets and mobile devices.  This concluded that art buyers and sellers are still interested in looking at art in their large screens and devices for a more detail view of their art interest.

MOVING???

Anabela Ferguson & Brush Strokes Fine Art LLC
is proud to inform you
a new service to you and your loved ones
www.Anabela-Artist.com

A previous client and his wife are moving to Richmond Va. in March. They have been packing all their paintings on their own, and found a Springfield moving track company (not mentioned) carried everything under the sun. They were looking for corners to go on their painting. They paid 70-90 cents for each. I could not believe it and they had to do the work themselves. Then they had to add bubble wrap to complete and give the extra care to each painting. I thought all of it was to high in cost. The beginning of last year I helped a couple with their packing of collectible paintings. They were so happy they did not have to do it. It is a pretty big job and it is hard on the body too. I do this every time I take down from my shows. If you are interested in some help, let me know and contact me directly and I will take the work out of your hands.

Anabela Ferguson's Article in Art World News

Dear Friends,

I hope you are keeping warm these days.  I see many of you in Facebook, it is nice to know what everyone is doing, and how you are coping with the weather.  It is truly a nice week to give family some extra time and love. The weather was not cooperating yesterday, so I stayed home and did not come to Rio, where my exhibit is this month.

I wanted to write you to share some news that arrived in my mailbox yesterday. End of last summer,  the Editor of Art World News Magazine asked me to write about the cleaning and restoration process for fine art in  canvas and paper.  With the help of my husband; my life long partner, I was able to deliver a very unique article with steps and preps of the research I had carefully studied for over two years, and with guidence of a few skilled professionals. By the end of the third week I was able to send it to the magazine's Chief Editor for approval.  She was please and excited to have it in her hands so quickly.
I am happy to share with you the new article that just came out in Art World News. It has been published this month.
January 2014.  I hope you will take a few minutes and click on

 http://www.artworldnews.com/PDF/AWN-JAN2014-web.pdf
Go to pages 51, 55-56

When you click on this link you will find two links the article that is now out, and the second that will be published in the same
Art World News Magazine next month.  I wanted you to have the first look at both.  I hope you will send me your thoughts and
comments if you haven't already.

Brush Strokes Fine Art and Heatherbell Barlow

One of our finest artist in Linkedin

Thank you Linkedin for introducing me to this terrific artist and now friend.

Four years ago I gave up teaching to paint full time. It has been an incredible journey and I have come into contact with some amazing people, most of whom are artists creating really impressive work.
I joined LinkedIn where I first came across Anabela through the Artbiz group where I learn a huge amount in a very short time. I then began a Facebook Art page where I can share not just my own work but other artists who have inspired me. Anabela is one of these, she is not only very talented but very generous in sharing her knowledge and experience and I have really appreciated her support from across the Pond. Having grown up before the age of computers, emails and social media, I had a lot of catching up to do!
Through linkedin I came across the Sketchbook Project and created a little sketchbook entitled My Secret and How to tell it, It is based on a beautiful archipelago of islands off the South West of the UK, the Isles of Scilly. These tiny islands inspired me to develop my landscape painting so I owe much to them. My sketchbook is in the Brooklyn Art Library NY and last summer it travelled all over the States, Canada and Australia. Amazing!
With tweeting I have found a number of opportunities including art work for a Horror movie, new exhibiting opportunities, more sales and this year I am taking part in the twitter art exhibit which will be held in Orlando.
I sell most of my oil paintings through putting on my own Solo shows, taking part in Devon Open Studios, and through word of mouth. I am currently helping to run a pop-up artisan shop which has been a very interesting experience where I sell mostly prints, cards and calenders.
This Spring I have a Solo Exhibition at a new wonderful quirky venue called A la Ronde.
Online art galleries include Saatchionline, Northdevonarts.co.uk and the Eliza gallery and artistsinfo.co.uk.I am a founding member of the Exe Valley Artists where we get together to experiment in painting techniques and enjoy friendly chats about all things arty.
I am currently working on some paintings of Venice. The light in December was magical and I am trying to capture something of this now I am back in my UK studio. Capturing light on water is a passion as well as a constant challenge!
